University of Bradford alumnus and Australian adventurer Huw Kingston, BSc Business Studies 1985, was this week recognised with the Spirit of Adventure Award at the Australian Geographic Society annual gala award event. The award comes within weeks of Kingston being appointed to the role of Community Ambassador with Save the Children Australia after his epic journey of mediterr année; a 14,000km, 12 month human-powered circumnavigation of the Mediterranean via sea kayak, trekking, ocean rowing and biking. A journey that raised nearly $100,000 for Save the Children.

In recognition of this epic adventure, combined with his decades of environmental work, Huw Kingston was recognised with the Spirit of Adventure Award at the Australian Geographic Society annual gala award event.

‌The Australian Geographic Society awards recognise exceptional people who serve as inspirational role models to all Australians and are Australia's premier adventure awards.

The Spirit of Adventure Award recognises people whose efforts reflect a strength and determination, and the ability to overcome obstacles to achieve their goals.

Huw Kingston says: "It was a great night at the Australian Geographic Society's annual awards and an honour to receive the 2015 Spirit of Adventure award. Coming soon after being appointed a Community Ambassador by Save the Children Australia, it capped off a great couple of weeks"
