Meet our students and alumni

This is where I make a difference to people's lives

"Becoming a paramedic, I feel like that's one of the biggest jobs where you're going to help people the most and when someone phones an ambulance that's when people are at the most need. And I think if you can make a career out of doing something that you love then that should always be the goal."

Graeme, BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science

This is where I want to be

"It's a really strong bond and you already start to feel part of an ambulance family even while you're still training as a student. That aspect of giving that comes from this job is incredible and it's transformative for so many people who you can go out there and help."

Ken, BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science

Where Paramedic Science can take you

Due to our unique placement year with Yorkshire Ambulance Service, students will graduate with experience of working in a frontline clinical role. Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration with the HCPC as a paramedic. This enables them to work in UK ambulance services as well as in other specialist clinical areas.

As well as working in the ambulance service, graduates also have opportunities to work in a range of settings including education, research, advanced primary care and in the community. Paramedics can also work at sporting events, with firefighters and in other diverse settings.

This provides a real alternative to other healthcare careers such as medicine, nursing, midwifery or other allied health pathways.
