Biography

Dr Maria Azmanova holds an MChem (University of Bradford, 2018) and a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry (University of Bradford, 2022). Maria is appointed as a Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry in the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, University of Bradford. Maria is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK (2024) and Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC). She has experience in leading, developing and accreditation of innovative programmes of study in life sciences at an undergraduate level, including MPharm (GPhC). Maria has experience in the field of student progression and attainment, with a focus on life sciences and international students. Her research interests and expertise range from laboratory-based research such as inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, metallodrugs with anticancer/antibacterial properties, oxidative stress in cancer therapy, as well as educational research around learner analytics and early indicators of student engagement.
