Biography

Dr Clara Voyvodic Casabó holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Oxford, a Masters in Criminology from the University of Glasgow (where she was a Carnegie Scholar), and a first class degree in International Relations from the University of St Andrews. Her professional experience spans the international humanitarian and security sectors, including roles in human rights protection, anti-corruption monitoring, and fugitive investigation. Before joining the University of Bradford, Clara was a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol and chaired the Peace, Conflict, and Violence Research Group at the Global Insecurities Centre (GIC). She is a Fellow at the Centre for Armed Groups based in Geneva and a Fellow at the Civil Wars Pathways at the University of York.

Research

Dr. Clara Voyvodic Casabó specializes in peace and conflict studies, with a focus on development, organised crime, and non-state governance. Her research primarily focuses on the dynamics of local order in the context of armed conflict, organized crime, and infrastructure development. She has also studied civilian agency, protective strategies, and micro-dynamics of power relations in the evolution of armed conflict and peacebuilding. Her areas of expertise include Colombia and Northern Ireland. Her notable publications include works on state-building during armed conflict and the legacy of rebel order in Colombia.

Teaching interests

Dr Voyvodic's teaching experience includes modules on analysing contemporary conflict and applied conflict research, development and security in conflict affected areas, as well as broader topics on issues of world politics and foundation of political theory. She has also led seminars and tutorials in international relations, international history, terrorism and the state, and civil war. She has supervised multiple undergraduate and masters dissertations.
