He currently serves in multiple roles including as Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Bradford; a Partner at McCarthy Denning, an international law firm which is headquartered in the City of London; and a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales and a qualified English lawyer from a ‘Magic Circle’ law firm. He also serves in a judicial capacity as an Adjudicating Arbitrator and Professional Mediator at the International Arbitration Centre (with other totable judges such as Sir Robin Jacob, Lord Phillips and leading Kings Counsel). Sheikh Bilal is a special adviser to several Heads of State and State Officials (governments and parliaments) and has served in numerous posts as a Chairman, CEO, CIFO and Board Member (Board of Directors and Board of Management); Member of Inter-Governmental Commissions and Bilateral Business Councils; Adviser, Coach and Mentor to HNWIs and CEOs of multinationals, Vice Chairman of the Princes Trust International Leadership Program; Judge of the UK Government Sirius Programme and of the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards; UK Government Business Ambassador and an Honorary Investment Counsellor of the Government of Pakistan (appointed by the Prime Minister). Sheikh Bilal has recently served as a Director General and Secretary General of multilateral bodies and national institutions including as DG of the specialized institution of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the International Islamic Food Processing Association (IFPA) after being appointed by a Resolution of 57 OIC Ministers of Food and Agriculture and he is currently also serving as a Secretary General of the Malta Islamic Finance Association. Sheikh Bilal is a Freeman of the City of London and a recipient of multiple awards; a renowned public speaker at international conferences and multilateral forums and a regular participant on major mass media channels. He was recently interviewed for the British documentary ‘Secrets of Success’ as 1 of 20 leading personalities of London, which is now showing on the British Airways inflight documentaries. Sheikh Bilal has been a visiting lecturer at leading international universities and is a graduate from British Universities in LL.B (Hons), L.P.C., M.A. (Islamic Banking, Finance and Management) and M.B.A. (Legal Services). He is also an experienced Islamic Shariah Scholar who memorized the Holy Qur’an at the young age of 11 and is a graduate from Islamic institutions in Arabic and Islamic Studies (equivalent to B.A. and M.A.). He is a multi-lingual (English, Arabic and Urdu) and a multi-disciplinary expert. Sheikh Bilal is a third-generation British citizen after his grandfather served in the British navy and then settled in Bradford while his late father worked in the Bradford textile mills for over 3 decades. Sheikh Bilal is happily married with two beautiful daughters while his wife happens to also be an Islamic Shariah Scholar emanating from Birmingham. Together they enjoy the English countryside, travelling around the globe, learning about different cultures and cuisines, conducting study circles, spending time with extended family and doing charitable/community work.
