Biography

Akiko Ueno (PhD) is an Associate Professor of Marketing, specialising in the intersections of consumer wellbeing and the impact of emerging technologies, and she has recently completed a research project into Digital Poverty in the UK, funded by the British Academy. Her research has been disseminated through leading academic outlets, including but not limited to the British Educational Research Journal, International Business Review, Journal of International Marketing, and Technological Forecasting & Social Change. In addition to her research, Dr. Ueno serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Consumer Studies, a journal distinguished by its 'A' rating in the ABDC list and an impact factor of 10. She is also a committed advocate for researchers’ mental health, holding the role of Ambassador for the Researcher Mental Health Observatory (ReMO). Dr. Ueno is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and maintains active memberships in several professional organisations, such as the British Academy of Management, One Dance UK, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, and the International Dance Teachers Association. Notably, her research on the synergy between dance, wellbeing, and workplace productivity has been recognised by its inclusion in the World Health Organisation Covid-19 research database.
