Dr Qasim is an expert on gang culture, race, and crime. He is author of Young, Muslim, and Criminal and has spent many years following criminal gangs to better understand the root causes of crime, especially in how these affect young Muslim men.
He was born and raised in Bradford and has taught at the University of Swansea, London School of Economics and Leeds Beckett, joining the University of Bradford in 2022.
