Clearing is part of the UCAS application system and it runs from July 5 through to October 21.

It is an opportunity for prospective students to find a place at university or college and applies to a wide range of people, from students who may already have results from the previous year to those who have changed their mind about a course or who have not received the grades they expected (whether those are lower or higher).

It is especially useful for those who want to reconsider their options after they receive their A-level results.

A full list of Clearing courses is available on the university website.

Claire Pryke, Associate Director Outreach, Recruitment and Admissions at the University of Bradford, said: “It’s important to remember that there are lots of different ways people might come through Clearing. Some people change their mind about what they want to study, or where they want to be.

“For some people, this might be the first time they are considering University. Circumstances can change and Clearing is a great way to find out about your options.”

Useful dates

Clearing runs until October 21, however, the deadline for new applications is September 25.

At the University of Bradford, prospective students can attend a Clearing Open Day on Saturday August 17, during which they can discuss their options with academics and take tours of the university.
