There are a total of 13 ceremonies spread across five days - many of those graduating will have spent some of their study time in lockdown.

Students from the university's four faculties - Management, Law & Social Sciences, Health Studies, Life Sciences and Engineering and Informatics (now renamed Engineering and Digital Technologies) - were joined by family, friends and supporters, as they each received their awards.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Shirley Congdon said: "Graduating from university is a significant milestone in anyone's life and a major achievement. It is the culmination of many years of hard work and dedication. All our students have demonstrated their ability to overcome numerous challenges, to learn and develop personally and professionally. They have demonstrated they are capable of going on to work or further study, armed with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to change the world for the better. I congratulate them all."

Graduate Gloria Ludlow, who secured a Sanctuary Scholarship to undertake an BSc in Adult Nursing, said: "The university has been so supportive of me. It has been there for me. People have been there for me. I was a little bit afraid of entering higher education. I was a mature student and not from this country. But Bradford has given me lots of support, they even did a dyslexia assessment and I received support for that.

“Some days I felt like I couldn’t do it. Going to university was something I always desired. When I was living and working in Birmingham, I used to sit and watch students and I so wanted to be like them. Being here now, today, having this degree, is a dream come true.”

Gloria's story will be told in full shortly.
