Bradford academics make their mark on global ‘citations’ rankings

University of Bradford academics have ranked highly in a global database which lists over 150,000 leading scientists and the number of papers authored by them.

The Science-wide Author Database, published by data analytics experts Elsevier, compares a number of fields including citations in academic journals, co-authored articles and overall impact within specialism.

The University of Bradford has more than a dozen mentions across a broad range of subjects, from chemical physics and toxicology to acoustics and civil engineering.

Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Zahir Irani is among those included on the list and the highest ranked at the University, placing him at an impressive 37th out of a field of 16,581 for Information Systems, penning 336 papers between 1997 and 2020.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Shirley Congdon said: "I am delighted to see our academics ranked among the best in the world across a range of disciplines. We are committed to applying our research for the benefit of society, tackling the major global challenges of our age.  The University of Bradford has three core research themes: Advanced Health Care, Innovative Engineering and Sustainable Societies. Some 96 per cent of our research was rated world-leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised in the latest Research Excellence Framework."
