Hello, my name is Saqib. I’m the managing director of Boss Security Systems, a family business based in the heart of Bradford.

Studying an MBA

An opportunity arose to participate in the University of Bradford MBA Distance Learning several years ago, during the unprecedented times of COVID-19.

The flexibility of this course allowed me to study from home via Microsoft Teams and the University’s Virtual Learning Environment. Having live online sessions with tutors really helped me contextualise my learning.

The University of Bradford's MBA Distance Learning has been ranked best in the world for value for money by the Financial Times. It was also ranked first in the UK and fourth in the world for overall satisfaction of the online MBA experience.

I’m honoured to have achieved a degree from the University of Bradford. I enjoyed it and met a diverse group of talented individuals.

Starting my own business

This has led me into a full-time role managing a business, based in the heart of Bradford, West Yorkshire. I’ve transferred the knowledge picked up from the MBA into the business environment and have embraced the challenges of my role.

My day-to-day duties as managing director include:

  • Executing the company strategy
  • Implementing daily business operations
  • Developing and initiating revenue growth strategies
  • Leading the team to meet and exceed goals and objectives
  • Managing senior staff
  • Presenting strategies and results to executives, the board, and other stakeholders

How the MBA set me up for success

Ultimately, the MBA programme is highly rewarding, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking to move into a business career in the near future. The course covers useful topics such as business analytics, finance, marketing and IT.

Furthermore, the MBA programme taught me how to segment my thinking into successive steps to accomplish objectives. I also learnt to use strategic thinking to create new opportunities for my organisation and its employees.
