Outreach and Recruitment team

Our Outreach and Recruitment Team provides support and guidance to school and college students who plan to go to university.

Their activities include in-person events and webinars designed for everyone including primary schools, pre-16 and post-16 students in schools and colleges, adult learners, teachers and professionals, and parents and carers.

They understand that going to university is one of the biggest decisions your young person can make, and are here to help.

Student support teams

Our support teams can help your young person take the step, get settled and reach their full potential, before and during their time at Bradford.

MyBradford: Student Support Service

MyBradford is the first point of contact for our students. Our friendly and professional staff will advise or connect them to expert help. This is a good place to start if they aren't sure who to ask for advice, or need someone to talk to in a quiet, confidential space.

Student Life Team

If your young person is at Bradford and needs additional support, they can reach out to our Student Life Team. They provide support to students with issues affecting their welfare and the difficulties of everyday life.

Career and Employability Services

Once your young person is a student at Bradford, our Career and Employability Services can help them achieve their career goals, with a wide range of advice, resources and events. Their appointments include face-to-face, remote video and telephone options.

This team can help with CVs, application forms, covering letters, and interviews for finding a part-time or graduate job. They can also help your young person explore their placement and internship options, at home and abroad.

Counselling And Mental Health Service

Bradford students can receive free and confidential counselling and mental health advice, and access self-help resources and workshops from our Counselling and Mental Health Service. Our team of skilled and experienced counsellors and mental health advisors understand how mental health issues can affect your young person’s studies, work and life.

Student Experience and Success Team

Our Student Experience and Success Team oversees peer-to-peer support. This includes peer-assisted learning (PAL) and peer mentoring, where trained student leaders use their own experiences to offer help and guidance.

Postgraduate students can participate in PGR Connect, a support network and community designed to create a sense of belonging and wellbeing.

Disability Service

Our Disability Service provides information, advice and guidance to disabled applicants and current students. They understand how disabilities or long-term conditions can affect your young person’s life and studies.

All new students are offered the opportunity to complete a screening for Specific Learning Difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and/or dyscalculia.

"The screening revealed that I actually have a very high level of dyslexia. I had gone through years of education needing support without realising. It wasn't until I got into Bradford where I found that support."

Academic Skills Advice Service

Our Academic Skills Advice Service provides support to students in all areas of academic study, with a focus on writing and study skills as well as mathematics. Along with 1-2-1 sessions, group advice and workshops, they have a number of online study skills resources.

Chaplaincy and Multi-faith Advisors

The Language Centre

Our Language Centre offers free support for academic English, even before your young person begins their degree. They also offer a range of modern foreign languages with classes, workshops, study resources and individual support.
