Learning and assessment

At the heart of the programme is dynamic, mentor-inspired and mentor-guided, active learning. The profile of your practitioner and academic mentors will depend on where you are on your entrepreneurial journey and the type of venture you want to create and/or grow.

Your learning journey will be underpinned by two innovative programme-long mentor-supported modules:

The Enterprise and Simulation Lab will offer you an authentic and interactive start-up simulation experience spanning the early stages of ideation, planning and testing, and extending to the stages of running and growing an innovative business.

The Entrepreneurial Self-development and Leadership module will enable you to design and implement together with your mentors an individual programme to enhance your entrepreneurial knowledge, skills and capabilities, and continuously reflect on your entrepreneurial practice from the point of admission to completion.

These two programme-long modules will be fuelled by a robust portfolio of essentials of entrepreneurial innovation. This will include a combination of stimulating knowledge ‘mini-bites’ on:

  • start-up and growth strategy
  • agile business models
  • entrepreneurial mindset and creativity
  • entrepreneurial research tools
  • entrepreneurial finance and fund bidding
  • entrepreneurial marketing
  • entrepreneurial organisation and team building
  • crafting a pitch and building relations
  • legal foundations of entrepreneurship
  • entrepreneurial project management
  • AI-driven performance
  • creating value through circularity

These will be delivered in sets of mini-blocks.

Your learning programme will culminate with the Entrepreneurship for Real project which will represent a progressive step from your initial learning stages of acquiring knowledge, skills and capabilities, applying them in a simulated environment and self-reflecting on what has worked/has not worked, to the realisation of your actual entrepreneurial idea.

The programme will feature a variety of learning activities including lectures, one-to-one tutorials and mentorship, workshops, problem-solving activities, and lab demonstrations.

You will also be expected to actively engage in collaborative learning and peer-to-peer activities.

All directed and self-directed learning activities will be designed to keep you focused on ‘learning entrepreneurship by doing it’.

Your formative and summative assessment will test your knowledge and its applications in situations closely replicating the experiences of actual entrepreneurs.

Study support

You'll be allocated a Personal Academic Tutor, who will provide you with personal guidance and support.

Module leaders and tutors will be accessible, providing office hours and appointments in order to support your learning beyond class contact. You will benefit from a dedicated student support facility providing a range of services, including various workshops run during term time, 1-1 consultations and vast printed and online resources to cater for every possible development area of academic learning (e.g., assignments and examinations). These are in addition to the wide range of student support that is offered by the University of Bradford at City Campus.

You will have additional opportunities to be supported in your entrepreneurial journey through a range of extra-curricular entrepreneurship-centred activities and initiatives including the Entrepreneurship Festival, Accelerated Student Entrepreneurship Programme (ASEP), and Entrepreneurs in Residence.
