What is Clearing?
Clearing is part of the UCAS application system.
It's another opportunity for you to find a place to start university this September.
You can use Clearing if you:
- have changed your mind about what or where you want to study
- got higher or lower grades than you expected
- haven’t applied to study at university for September 2024 yet
You can still apply for undergraduate courses before Clearing opens, until the UCAS deadline on 30 June 2024.
When Clearing opens on 5 July, we will publish a list of all our courses with Clearing places.
It will be worth checking this list regularly as it will be updated whenever places are filled or made available.
Once you have your exam results and have found a course you're interested in, you'll need to get in touch with us to find out if we can offer you a place.
If you get an offer from us, the next step is to add your Clearing choice through UCAS Hub – this counts as acceptance of our offer.
I initially applied for Medicine, but I didn't get the grades I needed. I called Bradford in Clearing and got a place on the Foundation in Clinical Sciences and Medicine. I knew as soon as I started the course that I wanted to go on to apply for the full-time BSc in the same subject.

Clearing key dates
Clearing takes place between 5 July and 21 October.
Results Day for the majority of qualifications (A level, T level and BTEC) takes place in mid-August. This is always the busiest day of Clearing, with large numbers of students searching for university places.
